New legal education rules are notified in central government gazette in March 2009.

Clause 28 of the legal education rules fixed age limit for LL.B., admission. i.e., 30 years for 3 year LL.B., and 20 years for 5 year LL.B., course.

Bar Council of India has withdrawn the clause 28 of rules and removed age limit for LL.B., admissions by way of a resolution in the year 2013.

Our Tamil Nadu advocates chellanged the bar council decision before the High Court of Madras in W.P.9533/2015. The court allowed the writ and restored the age limit for LL.B., The court declared the decision of bar council is illegal.

The bar council filed appeal in Supreme Court in SLP (Civil) 33742/2015. The apex court dismissed the bar council's appeal on 11.12.2015.

In a letter dated 17.09.2016, Bar Council of India informed that clause 28 of legal education rules are revived. That is age limit for 3 year LL.B., admission is 30 years and age limit for 5 year LL.B., admission is 20 years.

The verdicts of the courts will strengthen the quality of legal education.

Guess the reason that why Bar Council of India removed the age restriction for LL.B., admissions?  Is it a support to the private law colleges?

The apex court passed order on in Dec 2015. The bar council writes letters to the universities after closing the admission for the academic year 2016 -17. Guess   reason.

Congratulations for the advocates, who represented against the order of BCI.

Bar council members should not support wrong resolutions. Hence, think before exercise your vote in forth coming bar council elections.

Kindly forward this msg to advocates community to disclose truth.
